The Rochester '76 Lions club was chartered in December of 1975. We are a club of about 30 active members that have a special interest in service. The Rochester '76 Lions club is a part of Lions Clubs International. Lions is a service organization that has Preservation of Sight and Preservation of Hearing as major national service goals. Formed in 1917, Lions were challenged by Helen Keller to be "...Knights of the Blind..."

Since that time, Lions have recognized that diabetes is a major cause of blindness in the world, and has added Diabetes Education and Research as national projects.

Lions clubs throughout the world are organized into Districts by country and other geographical considerations.

The Rochester '76 Lions Club is a part of a larger governing body called District 5M-1. There are 11 other districts in Multiple District 5M, which includes all of the state of Minnesota, Manitoba and the western part of Ontario in Canada.
